Supervisor Janet Wolf speaks on her 12 years as county supervisor during SBCAN annual membership meeting March 10

Members of the public who are interested in local governmental issues are invited to Santa Barbara County Action Network’s Membership Appreciation Meeting on Saturday, March 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Marks-in-the-Valley, 2901 Nojoqui Ave., Los Olivos.

Second District Supervisor Janet Wolf will speak on “A Dozen Years as County Supe … the Highlights.” In addition to her service on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, Wolf also represents her district and the county on several boards and commissions, including the Air Pollution Control District, Local Agency Formation Commission, Santa Barbara County Association of Governments, and many others.

SBCAN holds this free event annually to thank its members for their involvement in bringing about positive change in Santa Barbara County and to encourage new members to join the organization. Refreshments will be provided.

“We founded this organization in 2002 because we wanted to bridge the gap between the north and south and to work together on progressive causes,” South County Co-President Dick Flacks said. “Our board members and general members live in all parts of the county meeting our goal of a countywide organization with equal representation in the north and south. We are always looking for new members. Please join us.”

North County Co-President Janet Blevins said she became involved because the organization was addressing issues that were important to her. “SBCAN has done some tremendous work in opposing extreme oil extraction, preserving farmland and in supporting social justice issues. I joined to help in that.”
