1.  SB CAN North County H.O.T. (Housing, Open space and Transportation) Committee meeting 
September 11, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 
Rabobank, 1554 S. Broadway, Santa Maria 

     Santa Maria City Councilman Jack Boysen and council candidate Tony Coles will be at our meeting to answer questions you may have in light of the November elections. 
     We also will have two representatives from SLO Clean Energy talk to us about creating a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) that empowers communities to purchase renewable energy directly from energy providers, build local energy installations, improve energy efficiency, and ensure rate stability on behalf of local residential, business, and municipal ratepayers. 
     We will have updates on the Cuyama solar power project and the Edible Landscaping Demonstration Garden as well as discuss any other items of importance to those in attendance.

2.  SB CAN South County H.O.T. (Housing, Open space and Transportation Committee) meeting 

Friday, September 12, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 
Rabobank, 2nd Floor Conference Room, Corner of Carrillo and Anacapa Streets, Santa Barbara 

Topics we will address include: 

  • Measure P Campaign Update: Rebecca Claassen 
  • Santa Barbara Bike Coalition Update: Ed France 
  • Isla Vista Self-Governance Project: Jonathan Abboud 
  • Municipal Housing Element Workshops: Jason Dominguez, Legal Aid Foundation 
  • Mobile Home Project: Sharon Rose 
  • Sustainable Living Research Initiative and other activities of SAMA Group: Ben Werner 
  • Resource Recovery Project at Tajiguas Landfill: County staff invited 
  • Cuyama Solar Project: Ken Hough 
  • Anything of interest to those in attendance

3.  League of Women Voters forums in Santa Maria 

The League of Women Voters is having three forums this month in the Betteravia Government Center, 511 E. Lakeside Parkway, Santa Maria: 

Saturday, September 20 from 10 a.m. to noon 
Santa Maria City Council candidates 
Wednesday, September 24 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. 
Santa Maria-Bonita School Board candidates 
Saturday, September 27 from 10 a.m. to noon
